Time and its many divisions (hours, days, weeks, months, and years) have completely shaped our lives and yet we seldom take the time to consider how these concepts arose. The concept of time is just a human invention, explains Carroll: ‘Humans love order, but there is no order.’ In this talk, former lecturer of Physics and academic jack-of-all-trades Donna Carroll provides a brief history of our calendar and an introduction to time measurement.
