A desperate crush, one impossible wish and a very bad idea. Obsession turns romantic fantasy into a wickedly funny horror story about desire, consent and control.

Genre: horror, thriller
Language: English, subtitles: Dutch
Length: 1 hr. 48 mins (2025)

Bear has been in love with his childhood friend Nikki for years. When a mysterious object promises to grant one wish, he makes the obvious choice. Writer-director Curry Barker takes the familiar “be careful what you wish for” premise and twists it into an increasingly unsettling mix of romcom, black comedy and body horror.

Beneath the blood and dark humour lies a sharper question: when does longing become entitlement? Obsession explores the urge to turn another person into the answer to our own desires. A timely horror film about love, possession and consent that never forgets to entertain….. and scare.

Awards
The film won the Audience Award at the Sitges Film Festival and was runner-up for the People’s Choice Award in the Midnight Madness category at the Toronto International Film Festival. Inde Navarrette also received the Critics’ Choice Super Award for Best Actress in a Horror Movie.
