In the summer of 1989, a group of bullied kids band together to destroy a shape-shifting monster, which disguises itself as a clown (Pennywise) and preys on the children of their small town Derry, Maine.

Genre: horror, drama, thriller
Language: English, subtitles: Dutch

When young children go missing in the little town of Derry, Maine, a group of seven children find out that the killer is not a man. The killer is the evil clown Pennywise, who can shapeshift into whatever you fear most. The kids, also known as the Losers Club, decide to fight and kill It. But how can you fight against something that knows all your greatest fears? For all its horror trappings, this is still a story in which battles with the supernatural can be abruptly curtailed when your mom turns up unexpectedly.

So if you’re looking for the perfect preparations for the upcoming Halloween, this film is especially for you! What could be better than a Stephen King adaptation featuring a terrifying clown?

Reviews

“A skillful blend of nostalgic sentiment and hair-raising effects, with the visual punch of big-screen digital hocus-pocus and the liberties of the R rating, still has the soothing charm of familiarity.” The New York Times

“An energetic romp with crowd-pleasing appeal that isn’t afraid to bare its gory teeth. …  the archetypal terrors and fundamental friendships of King’s source are slickly transferred to the screen with a ghoulish enthusiasm that proves hard to resist.” The Guardian.
