Hauschka sold out

Thursday, October 4 2012, 8:30 PM - 10:00 PM (sold out)
Gaslab

Innovative, pure, relaxing, exciting. Yes, that's Hauschka.

Hauschka is the alter ego of the Düsseldorf resident pianist / composer Volker Bertelmann. As a classically trained pianist, he fully explores the possibilities of the 'prepared piano' and thus following in the footsteps of the American composer John Cage who is considered to be the spiritual father of the 'prepared piano'.

For example, Hauschka places leather or rubber between the strings or manipulates the hammers of the piano with aluminum foil and adds electronics to it. Purist  or academic perfection is completely alien to him. He uses the piano more to produce rhythms than for melodies.  His work often resembles the minimalism of Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Jóhann Jóhannsson or Michael Nyman . In recent years he worked mainly for the famous English Fat Cat label.

During his concert you will be needing all of your senses because Hauschka does not only make his work exciting for himself but also for his audience.
