Historically, the Netherlands are a Christian nation. It is often said that other value systems, especially Islam, clash with the Jewish-Christian roots of Dutch society and make integration of non-Western citizens difficult. Gert-Jan Segers is a political scientist who has a master’s degree in International Public Policy from John Hopkins University. His specialty is Islam and the Middle East.
