Historically, the Netherlands are a Christian nation. It is often said that other value systems, especially Islam, clash with the Jewish-Christian roots of Dutch society and make integration of non-Western citizens difficult. How is a successful integration of Islam and Muslims possible?
Gert-Jan Segers is a political scientist who has a master’s degree in International Public Policy from John Hopkins University. His specialty is Islam and the Middle East. He lived in Egypt for seven years and is currently the director of the think tank of Dutch Christian political party, de ChristenUnie.
