Experience excellent chamber music during your lunch with fantastic string quartet (Haydn), Piano and Cello (Bridge), and a piano trio by Brahms as part of the internationally renowned Storioni Festival.
Bringing a breath of fresh air to chamber music, that's what the internationally renowned Storioni Festival has been doing in an outstanding way, year-in year-out. But then suddenly, there was this pandemic, which brought many things to a standstill. Now that violinist Wouter Vossen and his brother Marc on the cello, together with pianist Robert van der Roer, can get back to performing, it promises to be an exuberant musical feast for lovers of chamber music and for all those who would like to become acquainted with it.
‘Mens agitat molem', Latin for 'the mind rules the matter', is the starting point for this concert. The three musicians will be handing out food for thought and have enlisted the help of the young international SoNoRo Quartet. They will demonstrate how Joseph Haydn, as a man in his seventies, breathed youthful life into his last piece that he composed for a string quartet. This will be followed by a tribute to the extremely fascinating but much under-performed English composer Frank Bridge, the mentor of Benjamin Britten.
Two prize-winning German musicians, cellist Justus Grimm from Hamburg and pianist Danae Dörken from Düsseldorf, will also perform.
The Storioni Trio itself will close with one of their signature pieces, Johannes Brahms' First Piano Trio.

Storioni Festival
The Storioni Trio and Muziekgebouw Eindhoven initiated this chamber music festival of international stature back in 2007. Many successful editions have followed, with the anniversary edition in 2017 being one of the highlights. With full halls and audiences eagerly awaiting the next edition, and with international musicians of top quality, this festival managed to put itself on the map through exceptional programs and collaborations with leading musicians such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Pekka Kuusisto, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gidon Kremer, Kathryn Stott, Mischa Maisky, Vadim Repin and Sol Gabetta. Since its inception, it has provided wonderful music and entertainment.
In 2019, the decision was made to change the format and create a completely new festival while retaining the quality of all the previous editions. What, of course, has remained is the Storioni Trio inviting many of its (international) musical friends. The Storioni Festival has turned into a true city festival – one that’s connected to the DNA of Eindhoven, of technology, and of design and science.
