From Snow White (1937) to Soul (2020), there is ample proof of the magic that happens when animation and music are well matched. During this enchanting evening, various famous works will be performed that were especially made for film and vice versa.

Film Director and producer Hans Walther, will explain about the synergy between image and sound, while sound and light artist Sara d’Agostino will create an astounding light performance, accompanying the music.

Hans Walther began as a live-action director, but made the switch to animation over 20 years ago. Since then he has directed numerous series, including 'Café de Wereld' and the children's series 'Sprookjesboom', 'Miffy', 'StoryZoo' and 'Pim & Pom'. He also collaborated on many animation features, including 'Sprookjesboom the Movie', 'Pim & Pom - Het Grote Avontuur', 'Heinz' and 'Urbanus de Vuilnisheld'. Walther gives animation workshops, lectures and school lessons about everything to do with film at various schools. He never hides his great love for Disney's 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' (85 years old this year).

Dionne Mahieu from ESMG Quadrivium’s Ensuite, TU/e’s student symphony orchestra about PiQture the music: “In animation films, music is very important; for example, there are films where the image is made for the music, which really brings the music to life; think of Disney's Fantasia. Over time, music has played a different role in animation movies. In the beginning, Disney often used an existing piece of music as the basis for a film. Other animation studios followed their example. Later, this turned around completely and the music was written especially for a movie. This development will be interpreted and performed by the musicians of Quadrivium’s Vokollage and Ensuite with the help of Mette and Sara.”
