What do you consider to be the most beautiful instrument? A piano, a violin, drums, a saxophone? What about the instrument that is available to you anytime, anywhere and usually only comes to full expression under the shower? This workshop is all about this beautiful instrument: your voice. It is all about …… singing.
Whether it is in the shower, on your bike, when having fun with friends, or in front of a full concert hall: singing means freedom; singing is about expressing yourself. In this workshop, Afke Flaviana, a jazz singer and student at the Tilburg Conservatory, will stress how intuitive and simple communication and freedom actually are. See it as an impro workshop -- singing with a touch of jazz; moreover, it’s singing together and solo in a safe environment. It’s about dynamics, listening and responding to each other, and about letting go of your shame to find the pleasure in singing. The result will be a joint improvisation, more about how it feels to sing and less about how it sounds.
The emphasis of the workshop will not be on music theory or jazz chords but rather on the fundamental building blocks: ensemble playing and improvisation.
So, get those vocal chords ready to sing like you’ve never sung before!
Only students can attend this workshop. Sign up via the black order button and check out more info about the rules for workshops.
This workshop is organized together with ESMG Studentproof, Eindhoven’s Student Music Association focusing on jazz and related music streams.
