Have you ever wanted to create your own unique prints, old-school style? Join us as we explore the art of linocut, a printmaking method that has captured the imagination of artists for generations. Learn how to cut and print your own designs from scratch.

Linocut, a printmaking method, offers a creative outlet where your designs come to life through carving into linoleum blocks. Originating in the interwar years, between World War I and World War II, linocut gained widespread popularity for its versatility and expressive possibilities.

Pien van de Nieuwenhof, a teacher of fine arts with a specialization in illustration and animation will guide you through the entire process of linocut, from carving your own designs into linoleum blocks to printing your creations onto paper. In her own work, Pien explores themes such as mental health, feminism and relationships.

Practical info

  • Bring a few things to use as inspiration, such as photos (black and white with lots of contrast works well for linocuts) or sketches (including your own!);
  • The ink will stain your clothes, so leave your good clothes at home.
  • And… you don't need any experience. Pien will guide and help you every step of the way.
