The extraordinary Madrigal family lives deeply nestled in the mountains of Colombia. They inhabit a magical home - called an encanto. The magic of the encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift, ranging from muscular strength to healing powers… every child but one, that is -- Mirabel. When she discovers that the magic surrounding the encanto is in danger, Mirabel realizes that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, may be the last hope of her extraordinary family.
The story is about how we are all different, but some things make us all alike. We all must find a way to deal with what’s expected of us and with the pressure this brings along. Even when you have very special skills, like turning the whole world around you into a colorful burst of flowers...
This is your chance to not only come and see the original English version on the big screen, but also see it in impressive 3D! This film is the perfect escape from everyday life stressors, and it shows you a wide variety of people, but also the one thing that unites us all: just wanting to be accepted for who we are.
And, of course, family means everything because this is, after all, a Disney film.
Despite fears of competition, this film won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film 2022.
“Disney’s new film, about a gifted family in Colombia, has stunning animation, a beautifully composed story and spellbinding songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda.” – New York Times
“A smiling tale about learning to see your relatives for who they are rather than who you wish they were is never unwelcome.” Entertainment Weekly
