Punk rocker John Q Public, a pyromaniac out of conviction, unexpectedly ends up romantically entwined with misfit Patty, his biggest fan. She, however, has not yet discovered who he really is. They go on an epic journey together through the decaying suburbs of the American Midwest.

Language: English, subtitels: Dutch

Simon (John Q Public’s actual name) is experiencing furious musical differences with the rest of his band and is making money by selling drugs and taking part in big pharma medical experiments. Emily Skeggs is excellent as quirky, dreamy Patty, who takes indistinct Polaroids of herself masturbating to his music.
What happens next? Nope, we're not spoiling it. You need to come over to Filmhuis De Zwarte Doos and check it out yourself.

This film is the prefect preparation for the coming Holidays (and family dinners).  If you think your family is weird, watch theirs! Adam Rehmeier’s dry and humorous portrait of quirky love in the American suburbs might be placed in the tradition of slacker and stoner films, but is slightly different. The characters are more than just stereotypes and the two main actors have great chemistry.

According to the Studium Generale film committee this film is both hugely entertaining and f#cked-up… but in a good way.

Thanks to Eye Filmmuseum’s previously unreleased series, this festival favorite can now be enjoyed on the big screen.
