1969: known worldwide as the summer of love, hippies, sex, Woodstock. But just 161 km south of Woodstock, a 6-week-long music festival was held in Harlem, New York, which celebrated Black history, culture, fashion and… music.

Language: English – subtitles: Dutch

It was a huge event. However, almost nobody has ever heard of it… until now. Part music film, part historical documentary, and winner of the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize for best documentary at the Sundance Film Festival. What’s captured here is a vibrant, vital, essential look at a handful of performers like Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, and Nina Simone, in their prime.
When the revolution could not be televised…. Black (music) history: we bet you won’t be able to sit still in your seat.
