When you’re at a saturday night party and someone asks what you did yesterday, and you casually say: ’Oh, nothing special…just played the organ at my university.’ And yes…now is the time to grab this chance!

You probably study, have lunch, attend a Studium Generale lecture, or do whatever you do in the Auditorium from time to time. But here’s the million-dollar question: have you ever noticed the enormous organ hidden in plain sight in the Auditorium?

The idea to place an organ in the Auditorium came from Rector Magnificus Posthuma, after TU/e received a donation of one million guilders (around €450,000 Euros) from (formerly) Eindhoven-based electronics company Philips. Shortly after the Auditorium was built, the organ was realized in 1966. It was built in such a way that it can handle organ music from all style periods. That may be a little too ambitious for you, but if you really want to play a grand organ for once: this is a unique opportunity.

The workshop will consist of two sessions, you are expected to attend both. It is led by the official university organist Jan Verschuren, TU/e Electrical Engineering alumnus and organist affiliated with Leiden University. The workshop will mainly be conducted in Dutch, but English explanations can be given where needed.

Students, PhD’s, EngD’s only
Only a small group of students, PhD’s and EngD’s will learn the first tricks of the organ trade, so don’t wait too long to sign up via the black order button on this page.
