Who says you need to understand a language to make poetry out of it? In this playful workshop, Dutch becomes your creative playground, where strange words, unexpected combinations and happy accidents turn into something poetic. Whether you only know a few Dutch words or speak the language fluently, all you need is a little curiosity and a willingness to let go of the need to understand everything perfectly.

Please note: this workshop is conducted in English, however the language used to create poetry is Dutch.

Ever noticed how some Dutch words sound funny, beautiful or downright bizarre? During this workshop, those words become your creative material. Using everyday language, found texts, magazines and a little imagination, you'll discover how surprising combinations of words, sounds and rhythms can turn into poetry.

Get inspired by poets who have used chance, repetition, sound effects and unexpected combinations to create meaning, then give it a try yourself. No pressure to get things right, no corrections and no need to understand every word. Just the freedom to experiment, surprise yourself and see where language takes you.

This is a workshop about language, creativity, misunderstanding, recognition, and surprise. Above all, it is an invitation to experience the freedom of making poetry, no matter how well you speak Dutch.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of their level of Dutch.
