Bingewatching is one of the most favorite pastimes nowadays. But how was that before Netflix entered our lives? Let’s take you back to November 6, 2001: the first episode of 24.
(Update: check the photo impression taken at SG24/60 on October 4 and 5 2018)
24 is a serial drama that stars Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, focusing on the efforts of the fictional Counter Terrorist Unit to protect America from terrorism plots. The episodes take place over the course of one hour, depicting events as they happen, in real time. To emphasize the real-world flow of events, a clock is prominently displayed on-screen during the show, and there is a regular use of split screens, a technique used to depict multiple scenes occurring at the same time. So 1 minute is 1 minute and the whole season has a duration of 24 hours.
At SG24/60 we’re gonna air 24 for 24 hours straight. Just because we can. Just because it’s a thrilling ride and just because 24 is 24.
Fun fact: Jack Bauer tends to use the phrase ‘damn it’ a lot. A group of US-students made up a game, when every time he says ‘damn it’ they had to drink a certain amount of beer. Sutherland decided to go along with it. In a talkshow he revealed that he sometimes, on purpose, repeated ‘damn it’ multiple times in one sentence, especially for the students.
