Dr. Sam Friedman
Wednesday, May 15 2013, 11:45 AM - 1:00 PM (sold out)
Blauwe Zaal, Auditorium

Humor is important in most cultures. What is deemed funny, however, varies widely between countries.  Sam Friedman explores differences in Dutch and British comedy taste and explains how a 'good' sense of humor functions as an increasingly powerful tool of cultural distinction.

Sam Friedman is a sociologist at City University London. He  is also the publisher of Fest, an arts magazine that runs during the Edinburgh Festivals and has written on the performances of Dutch comedian Hans Teeuwen in the UK
