Secrets of Superhero Science sold out

Dr. Barry Fitzgerald
Wednesday, January 11 2017, 12:40 PM - 1:35 PM (sold out)
Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

Scientists are closer than you might think to creating the superpowers of superheroes such as Wolverine, Spiderman and The Invisible Woman. Dr. Barry Fitzgerald, scientist and superhero expert, explores how to get the superpowers that we see in Hollywood blockbusters in real life, how to introduce such superpowers into modern society and how to control those with superpowers.

The superhero film is dominating the box office. What a year 2016 has been, starting out with Deadpool in February and ending with Doctor Strange in November. And 2017 should prove to be another momentous year for superhero adventures, with films like Wolverine 3, Wonder Woman and Justice League all set for release. But have you ever wondered if we’ll have superpowers in the real world in the future? Have you ever dreamed of having an Iron Man suit or being able to rapidly self-heal just like Wolverine? Well believe it or not, but scientists are surprisingly close to developing superheroes with superpowers.
