Mindfulness receives a lot of attention in the Netherlands. The last years both media (e.g. glossies) and psychotherapists embraced this technique. Mindfulness sessions are offered in the case of burn-out and persistent feelings of stress. What explains the recent success of this method, that exists for millennia and is associated with improved concentration and stress reduction? The evening will focus on medical and spiritual aspects of Mindfulness and there will be an exercise. The presenters will be Cuong Lu and Johan Tinge. Cuong Lu is Zen teacher. He explains how Mindfulness works and what the effects are. He answers questions such as: can you learn it, can you teach it and if so, how? Johan Tinge is a psychotherapists specialized in mindfulness, founding father of the Institute For Mindfulness that focuses on stress reduction and treatment of depressions. After this evening you will have certainly more insight and may answer the question: mindfulness is it a help or just a hype?
