Blauwe Zaal, Auditorium

How do we control our future cars or robotic limbs? As technology evolves, communication between us and our intelligent machines becomes increasingly important. In this interactive lecture, David Abbink discusses the latest developments in this fascinating field.

David Abbink is associate professor at the BioMechanical Engineering Department of Delft University of Technology. His main research interest is the understanding of humans, in particular their physical interactions with mechanical devices like cars, planes or robots. During his PhD research, Abbink developed a gas pedal through which you can actually feel the changes in separation to the car in front of you. On this - and many other examples of human-machine interaction - he has elaborated on (TV) programs like Universiteit van Nederland, Witteman ontdekt and De Volmaakte Mens.
