Happiness, the interplay between genes and environment sold out

Prof.dr. Meike Bartels
Wednesday, December 3 2014, 12:40 PM - 1:35 PM (sold out)
Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

Happiness is not obvious. Love, friends, kids, money, drugs, sports and religion are all factors that influence people’s wellbeing. And that’s only the nurture side. Whether people feel happy also depends on their DNA. When it comes to happiness a fascinating interplay between genes and environment is going on.

Meike Bartels, professor in Genetics and Wellbeing (VU University Amsterdam) discusses the different factors that determine why someone feels happier than someone else, and why the Dutch score high on the depression ranking, but also live in one of the happiest countries in the world.
