Crowdocracy: real democracy sold out

Drs. Iman Stratenus
Thursday, March 23 2017, 12:40 PM - 1:35 PM (sold out)
Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

Who decides our future and how should we be governed? Nowadays, one of the world’s most debated and critical issues. The results of the Ukraine-referendum in the Netherlands, the Brexit-referendum in the UK, the constitutional referendum in Italy and the United States presidential election, they all show great discontent among voters. With the upcoming political elections in the Netherlands, France and Germany some hope for a political landslide, while others fear populist leadership.

However, not only the ‘angry voter’ and their populist representatives want change. The discontent about contemporary politics goes beyond the discontent about the establishment and their politics. The democratic system itself is at stake. Democracy is struggling to produce solutions to the challenges of our times. People, also those who trust the sincerity of governing politicians, feel disenfranchised with the political process, with the real power today being in the hands of a small elite.

Iman Stratenus offers a radical new way forward: crowdocracy. One that allows all of us - not just some of us - to participate in how we are governed. By using technology and the insights of crowd wisdom, all of us can replace our elected officials and ultimately shape and govern our communities. A revolutionary idea that can be implemented in an evolutionary way. Locally and globally.

Iman Stratenus is advisor, coach and publicist and devotes his professional life to system transformations. Together with dr. Alan Watkins he wrote the book Crowdocracy – The End of Politics? and has launched the Crowd Foundation, which aims to bring crowdocracy to life.
