There are no more places available for this event. It may be possible to obtain a ticket at the entrance, but we’re not able to guarantee it.

You’ve probably used it to research a school project or paper (even if your teacher told you not to…). It’s the go-to website to settle any dispute about obscure or less obscure facts. But have you ever wondered how Wikipedia has come to be what it is today? Launched in 2001, Wikipedia is in fact the world’s largest free knowledge resource, on which anyone can be an editor and contribute content. Wikipedia is also one of the most popular websites in the world; it was listed by TIME Magazine as the third most influential website of all time, surpassing popular competitors like Facebook and YouTube.

Wikipedia’s editors are volunteers, and anyone can write and edit its millions of articles. How does this work and how reliable does it make Wikipedia? What’s more, what does Wikipedia do to survive in a world troubled by #fakenews? Dr. Arne Wossink lets you take a look behind the scenes.

Dr. Arne Wossink is project manager at Wikimedia Nederland. Wikimedia Nederland is part of the global Wikimedia movement, and supports the volunteers working on Wikipedia and other wiki-websites in the Netherlands
