Picture this: a titanium plate in your head as a reminder of a car accident. This is the case for Alexia, but instead of fear or revulsion, cars have had a huge attraction for her ever since. The metal in her head excites her, makes her have sex with cars, but also makes her aggressive.

Language: French – subtitles: English

After being found guilty of a series of violent crimes, Alexia goes on the run and assumes the identity of a boy who has been missing for years, Adrien. His father, a troubled fireman, lovingly welcomes her as his lost son. Thus, these two lonely souls satisfy their hunger for human contact.

Director Julia Ducournau (Raw) turned the Cannes Film Festival on its head by winning the Golden Palm for Best Film with Titane.  She is only the second woman, after Jane Campion (The Piano), to have won this award.

According to the press, “Titane is the work of a mad visionary who has complete control over her wild mind," and  "One of the wildest films to ever premiere at Cannes”.

Please note: This film contains some graphic images and some potentially shocking scenes. The film is not suited for the weak hearted.

  • “Titane will not give you the answers to your questions, and you're sure to have plenty by the film's end. But it's a hell of a ride across genre, shock, and awe...”. - Chicago reader.
  • “The whole way home, I noticed my teeth were chattering from the adrenaline. They've only just stopped.” - Vulture
