Inspired by actual events, this film takes us back to the start of unmasking sexual harassment within Hollywood and tells the story of the women who managed to bring powerful producer Harvey Weinstein to a fall. A good script and even better performances contribute to a gripping film that captures the seriousness of these crimes.

Language: English, subtitles: Dutch

She Said is based on Pullitzer Prize-winning investigation and on the book by the same name. It is not only about women speaking out, but also about the importance of investigative journalism. The film follows Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, two New York Times journalists, as they investigate the truth about sexual abuse in Hollywood. But finding the truth is not enough for publication. To get the victims to go on record is extra complicated due to the power structure within Hollywood. The film highlights the courage of victims and witnesses who tell their story to stop a perpetrator of structural abuse. The publication was part of the rise of the #MeToo movement, and Weinstein ended up in jail.

“Thanks to” the Covid pandemic, some of the film scenes could be shot at the actual office of the New York Times, as most employees were working from home. One of the victims, Ashley Judd, plays herself in this film, which gives it great authenticity and a powerful impact.
