A science teacher wakes up alone on a spaceship, millions of miles from home, with no memory of who he is or why he is there. As his memories slowly return, he discovers he’s been sent  on a mission to stop a mysterious substance killing Earth's sun.

This visually dazzling space odyssey is carried along effortlessly by the gravitational pull of Ryan Gosling at his most winning. Project Hail Mary is a near-miraculous fusion of smarts and heart.

Genre: adventure epic, space sci-fi, buddy comedy
Language: English, subtitles: Dutch
Length: 2 hrs 36 mins (2026)

An American physics teacher (Gosling) wakes up with amnesia on a spaceship, millions of miles from home. Slowly, it begins to dawn on him that he must carry out a complex mission to save Earth, and realizes that an unexpected friendship may be the key.

This film adaptation of Andy Weir’s bestseller, The Martian, blends the grandeur of Interstellar with Spielbergian sentiment and the kind of lighthearted humor that directors Lord and Miller previously employed in The Lego Movie. The result is a bit wacky, but very entertaining, with stunning space imagery, a delightful feel-good vibe, and Gosling at his most charming.
