Outdoor Film: Elemental

Directed by Peter Sohn
Thursday, September 5 , 8:45 PM - 10:45 PM
Field next to Koeveld
Price: Free (Student) Free (Others)

This year we will kick of our movie season with an outdoor film!

Fire-, Water-, Earth- and Air- all live in Element City. But, for good reasons, some elements keep their distance from each other. After all, if you want to turn off a fire, you use water, right? But these simple rules seem a little lost on Ember when she meets Wade…

This years’ outdoor film will bring a big smile to your face and can be experienced for free right outside the Auditorium facing our very own on-campus cinema: De Zwarte Doos! We will set up some chairs: first come first serve, but you can also bring your own.

Genre: Animation, Pixar
Language: English, subtitles: Dutch

The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in and the person she wants to be.

This story may have a bit of a Disney moral, but the animated world, humor, eye for (fun) details, fast pace, and colorful and richly animated world of the Elements are all Pixar. You will leave this film with a big smile on your face!

Gather your friends, dress for the weather, grab a drink at the Zwarte Doos, and join us at the field next to Koeveld for an unforgettable outdoor movie experience. Bring your own chair or arrive early to snag one of the provided seats; availability is first come, first served.

De Zwarte Doos will be open until 11 p.m. for restroom access. You’re welcome to bring your own drinks, but please clean up after yourself using the provided bins or take them home. Drinks are available at De Zwarte Doos, but they must be consumed there—no glass or outside beverages are allowed at the outdoor movie area.

Reviews
“Pixar’s crew has returned to what it does best: Exposing the deepest feelings of the heart under the guise of everyday emotions.” Arizona Republic

“The pair’s growing fascination for each other is as unmistakable as the beauty of their surroundings, and so a film about inanimate elements turns out to be a delightfully human love story.” Wall Street Journal

“The staggering design ambition balances out the plot’s affecting, relatable ordinariness.” The New York Times
