Michael brings the King of Pop back to the big screen in a cinematic portrait of his life, music and artistic legacy. From the first spark of talent to the performances that changed pop culture forever, this is a film made to be experienced loud, large, and together in the cinema.

Genre: showbiz drama, biography, music
Language: English, subtitles: Dutch
Length: 2 hrs 7 mins (2026)

The film tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead singer of the Jackson 5 to the visionary artist whose creative ambition made him one of the greatest entertainers of all time.

It explores his life offstage as well as iconic performances from the early days of his solo career, giving viewers a front-row seat to Michael Jackson’s world. His story begins here.

The lead role in Michael are played by Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jakcson’s nephew, who makes his feature film debut, and yes, he can dance. Coleman Domingo plays Michael’s strict and harsh father, Joe Jackson.

Boosted by strong performances, especially Jaafar Jackson’s breakout turn, Michael is set to get fans moonwalking all over again.

Of course, Michael Jackson’s legacy is not without controversy. The film has been criticized by some for not addressing the sexual abuse allegations that emerged later in his life. Perhaps a second film will take on that part of the story.

Personal burp by one of the SG film-committee-members: If an artist can inspire a 12-year-old to get a perm to look like him (and it did not look good), and perform solo  The Jacksons at a retirement home in Brabant, then that’s reason enough to watch a film about him. If only for the music, the moves and memories.

Reviews
Jaafar Jackson “nails the look, the voice” and Michael Jackson’s distinctive movements, making the performance scenes especially convincing. Variety

“A warm rush of transporting pleasure,” especially for viewers nostalgic for Michael Jackson’s music and performances.  The Hollywood Reporter
