A young woman vampire who is unable to kill to satiate her need for blood may have found a solution in a young man with suicidal tendencies. French-Canadian Ariane Louis-Seize’s feature film debut is an airy comedy with gothic undertones.

Genre: horror, comedy, fantasy
Language: French, subtitles: English

Sasha is a young vampire with a serious problem: she's too sensitive to kill. When her exasperated parents cut off her blood supply, Sasha's life is in jeopardy. Luckily, she meets Paul, a lonely teenager with suicidal tendencies who is willing to give his life to save hers. But their friendly agreement soon becomes a nocturnal quest to fulfill Paul's last wishes before day breaks.

This coming-of-age story shows the ethical dilemmas that touch friendship, consent, and death. The tables seem turned due to the shift in gender roles.

Awards
The film clinched 17 awards and garnered 9 more nominations, including the prestigious Young Cineastes Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, along with 4 wins at the Venice Film Festival.

Reviews
Ariane Louis-Seize's debut is a stylish if schematic riff on the angsty-vampire subgenre that, like its heroine, hardly ever shows its fangs. – Variety

“A horror-comedy with bite and heart.” Mashable

“Louis-Seize strikes a disarming tone, sort of like a young adult comic book with a slight '90s vibe.” Filmkrant
