An ordinary professor and lonely loser (Nicolas Cage) finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom in this wickedly entertaining comedy.

Genre: comedy, drama, horror
Language: English, subtitles: Dutch

Paul Matthews is a husband, father, floundering college professor, schlubby everyman — and the most famous person in the world after he starts appearing at random in other people’s dreams. Paul finds himself recognized, celebrated, and desired beyond his wildest dreams. Students are finally coming to his classes, he is being asked for major brand deals and his relationship with his wife has never been better.  But then the nightly apparitions take a dark turn and become horrific nightmares.

Oslo-born writer-director Kristoffer Borgli (Sick of Myself) follows the rise and fall of one man’s fifteen minutes of fame, a mordantly funny and playfully twisted take on the collective consciousness of modern life, where just about anyone can suddenly become a strange kind of celebrity and fall back into obscurity or infamy just as quickly.

The Student Film Committee recommends this film because: “ Nicolas Cage is perfect for this crazy, thought provoking movie. Additionally, who does not want to dream about Nicolas (fucking?) Cage!”

Awards
Nicolas Cage was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor.

Reviews
“Is this a fantasy? A fable? A new kind of horror movie? Actually, Dream Scenario is all of the above.” Variety

“This is an ambitious, often provocative interrogation of masculinity, cancel culture, social media, and the power of celebrity through a humorous lens.” Screen Daily

“It's a compliment to say that you may walk away with the off-kilter feeling that you have been in another person's dream the whole time.” BBC
