Step into Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,  the legendary finale of his “Dollars Trilogy” and one of the most iconic spaghetti westerns ever made. This is the film that redefined the genre and made Clint Eastwood an immortal cinema legend.

This film will be preceded by an introduction AND it will start a bit earlier than usual.

Genre: (spaghetti)western, action epic, period drama (1966)
Language: English, subtitles: Dutch
Length: 2hrs. 58 mins.

Eastwood plays the silent, sharp-eyed drifter hunting for stolen gold, competing with a ruthless bounty hunter (Lee Van Cleef) and a cunning bandit (Eli Wallach). Though called “the Good,” he’s no hero, just the quickest, smartest, and luckiest of them all. Leone’s film strips away the myth of noble cowboys, showing the Wild West as a world ruled by chance, greed, and survival.

With Ennio Morricone’s unforgettable score, dark humor, and breathtaking cinematography, this so-called “operatic western” remains one of the most influential films ever made.

Before the screening, film teacher Twan Artswill give a short introduction, sharing why this masterpiece still stands tall as the ultimate western of all time.

Reviews
“Amid the endless homages and the sheer adoration meted out to Sergio Leone's ambitious, pricier finale to his Spaghetti Western trilogy, it's easy to forget just how damn good the film is.” Empire magazine

“Of all the great films of the 1960s, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is one of a fistful that can be truly appreciated only on the big screen.” Detroit Free Press

“An improbable masterpiece -- a bizarre mixture of grandly operatic visuals, grim brutality and sordid violence that keeps wrenching you from one extreme to the other.” Chicago Tribune
