Sometimes a film feels like a warm conversation that stays with you for years. Forrest Gump is one such classic: a seemingly simple man with an open mind who, without steering his own course, walks straight through the major moments of 20th-century America. From park bench to battlefield, from love to loss, Forrest tells his story with a disarming honesty that makes you laugh and suddenly fall silent.

With Tom Hanks in an iconic leading role, this is a film about coincidence and choice, about holding on and letting go, and about what happens when you just keep walking, even when you don't know exactly where you're going. A time capsule full of pop culture and history, but above all an intimate portrait of humanity. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the man behind that other classic Back to the Future.

Come see (or rediscover) it on the big screen, where the small glances, the music, and that one line about “life” really come into their own.

Before the screening, film teacher Twan Artswill give a short introduction, sharing why this is a true classic and what makes it so special.

Awards
Forrest Gump won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Tom Hanks), and Best Director (Robert Zemeckis). It also claimed major Golden Globe wins for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actor, and Best Director.

Reviews
“Hanks' performance [is] a triumph of dignity, decency, and warm-hearted humor... Even more than his Oscar-winning achievement in Philadelphia, this is a role that will be remembered as long as people care about great acting.” New York Post

“It might hit you right in the feels, even as your eyes are rolling. To quote one of Forrest's truest pieces of wisdom: Maybe both is happening at the same time.” Slant Magazine

“Credit for the success of the film has to start with director Robert Zemeckis, who has taken his Back to the Future and Who Framed Roger Rabbit success and parlayed it into a more mature, yet equally entertaining, film.” Chicago Tribune
