a.k.a. Walad Min Al Janna, The Boy from Heaven

In Cairo Conspiracy, we meet Adam as he becomes embroiled in a power struggle within Egypt's religious and political elite. The film is an exciting espionage thriller that offers a glimpse into a hidden world.

Language:  Arabic, subtitles:  English
Genre: drama, thriller

A simple fishing boy, Adam is admitted to the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the beacon of Sunni Islam. Once there, he discovers a multitude of different perspectives. When the Grand Imam suddenly dies, the Muslim Brothers and the National Security Service seem to have conflicting interests. Unbeknownst to them, Adam is being recruited to influence the choice of the new Grand Imam. When he finds out the truth, he finds himself caught between two fires.

In many films, the line between right and wrong is clear and obvious. In this film, however, every choice has good and bad consequences. Adam tries to stay on the right side of the line. But how can he do that when those around him abuse their power to push him in the opposite direction? The film raises some serious moral questions, while holding our attention and keeping the tension high.
