Alejandro González Iňárritu
Spanje, Mexico 2010, 145 min
Spanish spoken / Dutch subtitles

Iñárritu’s first film without screenwriter and producer Guillermo Arriaga (Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel) is the story of the dying rogue Uxbal, portrayed outstandingly by Javier Bardem. In the three months left to him, he tries to put things right in his life and that of his family. But that proves to be an impossible task with his bipolar ex-wife, a handful of Chinese illegal immigrants and his African ‘employees’ who sell their wares on the street. The film shows a totally different side of Barcelona. An underworld that’s sometimes depressing and heavy, but at the same time unforgettable. Take a good look at the camera work!
