Put on some glitter and a wig and join us for this candy-colored, plastic-fantastic, extremely funny, wild ride of a film.
The film will be preceded by an introduction. And after the film, there will be a short discussion.
Genre: adventure, comedy, fantasy
Language: English, subtitles: Dutch
With ever-blue skies, pastel pink houses, and all the fashionable fun a doll could want, life in Barbie Land is perfect - unless you're having an existential crisis. And Barbie (Margot Robbie) just happens to be having one. When her questions lead her out into the real world, Ken (Ryan Gosling) isn't far behind, and the two soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.
This film is an unlikely but successful collaboration between Mattel (makers of Barbie) and Little Women director Greta Gerwig. If there's anyone we can trust with this cultural icon, it's Greta.
This film will be preceded by an introduction by Dana Linssen, film critic for the Dutch daily newspaper NRC and Filmkrant. After the film there will be a short discussion.
If you want to see the film without the introduction (and without USE/ITEC registration), then you can attend the film on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 January.
