Today, you’ll see 7 of the 12 award-winning films from Kaboom Animation Festival 2026. These films represent the very best of contemporary animation, and many received international recognition. Highlights include Murmuration (Janneke Swinkels and Tim Frijsinger, 2025) which won several awards, including Best Animation Short Film at the Melbourne Festival, and Boundaries (Seun Yee, 2025), which won the Best Animation at the Dresden festival.
Kaboom Animation Festival is the one-stop-shop for the latest and greatest in all things animated. From cutting-edge experimental arthouse films to colorful storytelling, Kaboom offers something for every animation lover.
The next edition of Kaboom Animation Festival takes place from 12 until 21 March , 2027 in Utrecht, Amsterdam and online.
The films will be introduced by Maarten van Gageldonk, Head of Program of Kaboom Animation Festival.
