Shocking, horrible, beautiful and breathtaking.
The World Press Photo exhibition shows the most extraordinary and intrusive press photos of the year and thus gives an instant overview of news from 2011. Last year was perhaps the greatest news year of the last decades: the tsunami in Japan, the Arab Spring that was growing, the economic crisis and the tragedy in Norway.

The exhibition is diverse and touches the viewer in different ways. Sometimes the images are so intense and eloquence that it is impossible to look away from the pain. Sometimes they are just beautiful, like the photo series of the Hang Song Doon caves in Vietnam.

Like every year, The World Press Photo is a moment of reflection on how good your life really is. It confronts you, intrigues you and challenges you to keep looking.
