Did you know that one of the largest open-air galleries in the Benelux is located next to our campus? We are talking about De Berenkuil, where every year one of the biggest graffiti festivals of Europe is held. Now is your chance to have a guided tour by one of the organizers, Mike Dobben.
Every year in June the festival Step In The Arena is held in bicycle roundabout ‘De Berenkuil’. With a lineup consisting of over 150 graffiti artists from at least 40 countries. 17,500 spray cans and more than 3,000 liters of latex have been used in recent years, making this festival a massive and true dedication to graffiti art.
It’s Europes largest Hall of Fame and and you can see all kinds of graffiti and street art: letters, cartoon, photorealism, and post-modern graffiti. Now’s your chance to join this excursion given by Mike Dobben, one of the organizers of the festival.
We’ll gather in front of the Blauwe Zaal, Auditorium at 13:25 and from there we’ll walk to ‘De Berenkuil’ for the excursion.
This program is organized in collaboration with the Art Committee of the TU/e. During the walk, you will have a chance to chat with members about the role of art in our community.
Attend the Graffiti lecture first
But there’s more: prior to the excursion, there will be a (USE) lecture in De Blauwe Zaal, Auditorium about graffiti by pioneer from the very beginning, Mick La Rock. It’s a great introduction to the excursion so we recommend to attend the lecture too. You can sign up for the lecture here.
And remember: EARTH without ART is just…. Eh.
