The travelling theatre festival “de Parade” is a phenomenon. Every year the festival travels through the Netherlands with its colorful tents and entertainment. From June 21 to 29, it will once again set up camp in the small park next to the Parktheater in Eindhoven. Every day, dozens of performances will take place in the theater tents. And as a student, you can be there on opening day for a bargain.
On Friday, June 21, you are welcome to grounds of de Parade at a special student rate. This not only gives you access to the festival grounds, but also to two specially selected performances. And whether you are a theater lover or just come for the cozy terraces and the carousel, there is always something to do at the Parade.
You don’t need to understand Dutch to attend these performances.
The two performances
- DeRonde/DeRoo
DeRonde/Deroo humorously and poetically embodies how we all have a history. You will be immersed in an absurd world where the weight you carry with you is visualized. Expect a visual spectacle that reads like a poem and takes you through acrobatic virtuoso highlights.
A man drags his companion like a rag doll. A 70-kilo body bound to him. Lost and on their way, they search for a way out, with the rag doll serving as a living Swiss army knife. Tap his head, and water comes out, or climb him like a lookout tower when searching for the way. But what if your companion suddenly refuses to go any further?
- Heavy Hitters
The Hague-based breakdance collective Heavy Hitters has collaborated with choreographer Lea Ved (former dancer of NDT1 - Dutch Dance Theater1) to merge breakdance, hip-hop, and contemporary dance into one organic whole. Common Enemy starts from the question of how chaos and threat can strengthen a community. In a game of group versus individual balance, the movement patterns of 'the human' and 'the B-boy' come together in highly physical dance theater. An abstraction of breaking penetrates questions about our instincts and the dynamics between people.
