Dance Company 'Another Kind of Blue' explores the relationship between humans and technology. Airman is a duet between a dancer and a cloud of drones. Airman can be visited as part of TU/e's 'Heroes like you festival' on October 16 &17.

Airman is an exhilarating duo performance between mankind and technology in which the human consciousness is explored. This innovative piece focuses on the question of what human consciousness would look like when represented by technology.

For Airman a motion-capture operating system has been developed that can control twelve drones simultaneously, which have a unique live interaction with the dancer. To create this performance artistic leader David Middendorp collaborated not only with his dancers but also with a team of software developers, researches and mathematical engineers.

Another Kind of Blue
Another Kind of Blue was founded by David Middendorp in 2014. As an artistic leader he combines his love for technology with his experience as a dancer and choreographer. His father was an engineer and his mother an artist who introduced David to the world of dance. In his work David unites his passion for dance and technology. Inexhaustible curiosity to explore and to understand the world is his main motivation as an artist. He approaches the world and technology with an open mind, full of wonder and desire. In his performances this ingenious combination of dance and technology comes to life in a way you have never seen before.
David’s work has been performed at festivals such as Cannes, Lowlands, “de Parade” and Oerol and at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. In 2014 he reached the Finale of America’s got Talent.

On Saturday, David will give an introduction prior to all three airman performances.
