Dauphine van der Velpen and Lukas Hebels

Blauwe Zaal, Auditorium
Price: Free (Student) Free (Others)

Nope, a saxophone isn’t solely used in jazz or pop music. And no, classical music isn’t only pre-1900’s. Experience the opposite at this lunchtime concert with saxophone and piano-duo Dauphine van der Velpen and Lukas Hebels and join for some Midday Musing on Minimal Music.

Put your work, deadlines and thoughts aside for a moment and drift away on beautiful modern classical sounds this afternoon. For minimal music connoisseurs, Dauphine van der Velpen on saxophone and Lucas Heebels on piano will perform:
• Façades - Phillip Glass;
• Spiegel im Spiegel - Arvo Pärt;
• Unsingable - Anthony Fiumara;
• Miserere Paraphrase - Michael Nyman
• Mara’s Lullaby - Marc Mellits.

Dauphine van der Velpen is a saxophone player from Belgium, mainly working on chamber music and solo projects of contemporary, minimal and post-modern music. She believes that her playing should create a certain atmosphere and should bring an image to mind.
She graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Ghent in 2019 and finished a Masters at Tilburg Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts in 2021. She then enrolled in the Master of Arts and Education, shortened trajectory, at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.

Lukas Hebels is a pianist (Conservatory Tilburg) and has a wild passion for jazz, pop and classical music.
