Ever wondered how a board game actually comes to life? From a rough idea to something people can play, enjoy, and argue over? In this workshop, you’ll experience that process yourself and turn your own idea into a playable game.
In this workshop, you will design and create your own board game from scratch. You won’t have to do it alone: board game designer Hans van Tol, winner of the Dutch game Prize, and founder of The Game Master, will help you turn your idea into a playable experience.
Game design is an iterative process of developing an idea, defining rules, testing it, and refining it until it becomes an enjoyable game. During the workshop, you will develop ideas, discuss them with others, build a prototype, write simple rules, test your game, and present it to the group. Hans will help you along the way.
So are you up for a challenge? Can you make a game in under three hours? Roll up your sleeves because designing something actually good is no easy game.
This workshop is organised in collaboration with Knights of the Kitchen Table and Totem Game Dev, two student communities with a shared passion for games and game development.
