An evening full of wonderful Bach compositions and Bach inspired works performed by student association Quadrivium, alternated with short talks about the genius’ relation with maths and the popular music of today. Featuring orchestras Auletes, Ensuite and the Vokollage choir.

After a short organ introduction Auletes plays Passacaglia and Fugue.

Student choir Vokollage follows and sings Cantate 140, and Cantate 147, two short pieces accompanied by the strings of student symphony orchestra Ensuite

Before the break it’s time for some lightness and humor when Liebeslieder Polka’s of J.S. Bach so called ‘21st child’ P.D.Q. Bach is played.

After the break Ensuite continues with the happy composition Farandole, easy to whistle, hard to forget.

The program continues with a piece called Blithe bells a composition based on J.S.’ cantate 240, ‘Sheep may safely graze’

The Final will be Give us this day, a composition based on one of Bach’s famous chorals

The evening will be ended in a light and humorous vein when Vokollage and Ensuite perform the Missa Hilarious

In between the various pieces there will be short talks about Bach’s phenomenal talent, the relationship between his work and Mathematics, and his vast influence on 20th century popular music.
