Mars One aims to establish a permanent human settlement on Mars. CEO Bas Lansdorp explains how they are going to achieve this next giant leap for humankind.

If mankind is to survive in the long term, our future cannot be confined to earth. This is the view of Mars One, who consider the red planet to be the stepping stone of our voyage into the universe. As Mars currently appears to be the only planet that can feasibly support human life, Mars One is preparing a manned space trip to Mars; not simply to visit, but to live, explore, and create a second home for humanity. The first individuals to go can never return to earth. It will be our first step in becoming a multiplanetary species.

The Dutch foundation Mars One aims to land the first humans on Mars in 2032. Co-founder and CEO Bas Lansdorp explains how they are going to achieve this and discusses the difficulties and ethical issues concerning this project. Bas Lansdorp is an experienced entrepreneur with a passion for ambitious projects. In just a few years, Mars One has grown to be one of the established names in the world of space exploration. As with the Apollo Moon landings, a human mission to Mars will inspire generations to believe that all things are possible, anything can be achieved.
