The video clip above of Sander Schimmelpenninck in De Avondshow with Arjan Lubach is in Dutch. The Studium Generale program itself, however, will be in English.

Dutch journalist, entrepreneur, opinion maker and presenter Sander Schimmelpenninck gives his take on the society we live in today. A society that runs on a dysfunctional capitalist system. He addresses the widening gaps in society – between rich vs. poor, educated vs. uneducated, ordinary citizens vs The Hague’s political elite, conservative vs. progressive. One week after the parliamentary elections, Sander Schimmelpenninck challenges you to consider: What kind of society have you voted for? Did you make the right choice? Don’t miss this thought-provoking talk!

Sander Schimmelpenninck likes to interfere in the public debate, criticizing both the political left and right, daring to make bold statements, and coming up with surprising solutions to social problems.

Sander en de kloof (2022)
In this television series, Sander Schimmelpenninck denounced the persistent and ever-growing inequality of wealth and opportunity in the Netherlands. The series was followed by the book Sander en de brug, which answers the question: what can we do about this inequality?

Sander en de socials (2023)
Polarization is growing, trust in democratic institutions is declining, and politicians, scientists and journalists are increasingly under threat. In this four-part series (first episode Monday 30 October, NPO 3), Sander Schimmelpenninck examines the subversive impact of social media and Big Tech on these developments.
