Our body is our manual uitverkocht

Dr Lian Loke, Dr George Khut and others
Woensdag 17 februari 2016, 12:40 - 13:35 (uitverkocht)
Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

Our concept of the body is being transformed on several technology fronts. Developments in wearable, medical and health technologies, miniaturization, fabrication technologies, social media and the Internet of Things, are redefining the limits and boundaries of the body and the cultural practices our bodies are embedded within.

During the Tangible Embedded and Embodied Interaction Conference 2016, artists present interactive artworks examining the impact of technology on our bodies. Four artists will give short talks on their work in the exhibition, ranging from out-of-body experiences facilitated via robotic telepresence avatars, to pollution sensing clothing, tactile interactive sound sculptures and movement controlled poetic texts created with mobile phones. Dr Lian Loke (University of Sydney) and Dr George Khut (UNSW Australia) provide an introduction.

The presenting artists:
- Sara Adhitya, Beck Davis, Raune Frankjaer, Patricia Flanagan and Zoe Mahony: The BIOdress: A Body-worn Interface for Environmental Embodiment
- Shannon Cuykendall, Ethan Soutar-Rau and Thecla Schiphorst: POEME: A Poetry Engine Powered by Your Movement.
- Paul Strohmeier: Exploring Bodies, Mediation and Points of View using a Robotic Avatar
- Enrique Tomás: Tangible Scores

This program is part of the Tangible Embedded and Embodied Interaction Conference  and organized by the Department of Industrial Design of the TU/e in cooperation with Studium Generale.

An exhibition of all artworks is organized from Monday February 15th - Wednesday February 17th in the Senaatszaal in the Auditorium.
