My journey to Stockholm uitverkocht

Sir Fraser Stoddart
Dinsdag 14 november 2017, 12:40 - 13:35 (uitverkocht)
Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

Sir Fraser Stoddart, who was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, will discuss his personal adventures and challenges in the development of molecular machines.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2016 was awarded jointly to professor Stoddart along with Jean-Pierre Sauvage (University of Strasbourg, France) and Ben Feringa (University of Groningen, the Netherlands), for their work into the design and synthesis of molecular machines. Their work has ‘miniaturized machines and taken chemistry to a new dimension,’ according to Nobel judges  at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Professor Sir James Fraser Stoddart is professor of Chemistry and head of the Stoddart Mechanostereochemistry Group in the Department of Chemistry at Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois, USA). His visit to the TU/e is part of a tour throughout the Netherlands connected to The Netherlands Award for Supramolecular Chemistry 2017 in Eindhoven, given by the Gravitation program FMS, and the Molecular Machines Nobel Prize Conference in Groningen.
