This year we welcome renowned Dutch General Peter van Uhm (Nijmegen, 1955). General Van Uhm has been Chief of the Netherlands Defence Staff since April 2008, having served in Lebanon and Sarajevo in various functions. He is the highest military leader in the Netherlands.

The annual Eindhoven Freedom Lecture honors the four freedoms as defined by President Roosevelt in 1941: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want and freedom from fear. The Freedom lecture is organized in cooperation with the Market Garden Committee, Stichting 18 september and the City of Eindhoven.
