Bright lights, smart city uitverkocht

Dr. Antal Haans
Woensdag 16 november 2016, 12:40 - 13:35 (uitverkocht)
Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

Revolutions in urban lighting technologies offer novel opportunities for applications that empower citizens, curb light pollution and help combat aggression.

Smart urban lighting affects human functioning, behavior and perception. Antal Haans studies the effects of light on human behavior in living labs situated in Eindhoven, such as residential area Achtse Barrier and recreational area Stratumseind. Here he investigates how light influences our perception of safety; how light can be used to manage large crowds of people; and how light can have a de-escalating effect in potentially aggressive situations.

Dr. Antal Haans is assistant professor in the Human-Technology Interaction group at TU/e, and is affiliated with TU/e’s Intelligent Lighting Institute. During GLOW (12-19 November), you can experience Antal’s work in the Markthal at TU/e.
