Millions of people are on the run, hoping to find temporary shelter in another country or even to start a new life without the fear and dangers of war, violence or persecution. In The Netherlands, tensions are now rising over the thousands of refugees due to be given shelter here. How to handle this situation? In this talk show we share experiences both from inside and outside TU/e.
TU/e-student Gholam (Electrical Engineering) is a refugee from Afghanistan. He tells what it's like to be a refugee in The Netherlands.
Tove Elfferich is a Master student in Industrial Design at the TU/e. Together with videographer Stef Arends she started her graduation project 59,5 million and you. Elfferich interviewed the residents of the Eindhoven districts Blixembosch and Achtse Barrier on how they deal with the housing of refugees in their neighborhood. She also spoke with the newly arrived residents of the asylum seekers center de Orangerie. This project shows in what way ‘social design’ can contribute to the building of bridges in processes of social transition.
